A Long time ago on a playground far far away....

...at Kutz Elementary school in a suburb of Philadelphia I began expressing my desire to speak into the mic. Impersonating Walter Cronkrite, I would spend recess walking around the playground, commenting on the activities of my peers; from the swing set to the tether ball court, with a stick "microphone" in hand. After a fierce competition of dodgeball, I'd kindly ask for interviews. The obsession continued through adolescence, pretending to do shampoo commercials in the shower and bugging my siblings any time we sat down to eat ("which potato chip do 2 out of 3 kids prefer?")

As I got older, I looked forward to the day I could start working and landed my first job washing dishes in an Italian Pastry Shop. My love for the smells, the creativity, and the heavy equipment grew; and eventually after a few years of working in the restaurant business, I decided to go to culinary school. Although being a Pastry Chef was a demanding career, I never lost my love for the mic, or the stage. I played keyboards and synths for a few bands, had a short-lived career as a belly dancer (if two paid gigs count), and landed a part in the play Coffee At Napoleons (which remarkably I won a "Audience Choice Best Supporting Actress" award.) After doing dozens of live cooking demonstrations on television, radio and at fairs and festivals, and even producing a show for Public Access Television; I realized I had a knack for impromptu jokes and keeping people engaged. I started writing comedy, which led to moonlighting as a freelance writer for a local paper and doing stand-up, all while running a pastry kitchen.

In 2011, I came across an ad for "Such A Voice". They were having a Voice Over workshop at the local high school. I thought I'd check it out. Eighteen months of private coaching later, I launched my career. In September, 2014, after 20+ years as a Chef, I decided to untie those apron strings and put on the headphones full-time.

Every morning I look forward to going to work. I have completed construction on a new state-of-the-art professional recording studio (whether it's a drill or a mixer, I LOVE power tools!) which doubles as my quiet place to write funny stuff.

Although making jokes is something I do quite frequently, I take my work seriously and I'm never satisfied until my client is; whether it's creating descriptions for products, designing a couple's wedding cake, or lending my voice to a commercial. Yet, I believe true love of one's work makes it seem like play. And as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "It is a happy talent to know how to play."
